A meditation on hope and fear at the dawn of war.
Balanced between winter and summer,
balanced between darkness and light.
Balanced between hatred and fear and the strength to do what's right.
It's a precarious place to be. I need you here with me.
Help me to keep the better path in sight.
What does it mean when lives so
precious crumble before the hand of greed?
How are your boundless gifts to be known when so many wait in need?
How can the songs of hope be sung when such violent wills are done?
Even the earth cries out with those who bleed.
For the summers warm and delicious, for
the winters crisp and clean,
Sacred darkness and lovely light and all the moments in between,
The greatest thanks that I can give is to do what I can to help my neighbors
live.
Send me sisters and brothers with
courage. Help me see that I'm not alone.
When I'm tempted to drown in despair,
send me courage of my own.
If it's a peaceful world I seek, let
peace be what I speak,
The fruit of the seeds of trust that I
have sown.
The greatest thanks that I can give is
to do what I can to help my neighbors live.
If the world is hanging in the balance,
never let it be said that I
Failed to put my love where it was
needed, failed to offer my utmost try.
There is nothing less I can do for the
world, for friends, for you.
Let it be so: my life is my reply. Let
it be so: my life is my reply.
