Drive in the woods. The green is fading.
Decade of drought. Nothing better on the way.
Forest and water need each other.
Each day is interdependence day.

Newspaper tells of a factory closing.
Hundreds of jobs have been sent to other lands.
Five years go by and the town's in shambles.
Interdependence makes strong demands.

Interdependence - what we need.
Interdependence - sun and seed.
Interdependence - all indeed are part of something great.

Simplest of words from a favorite teacher
Turns it around so a student gets an A.
On down the line that student's teaching.
Each day is interdependence day.

Hammer and nails and a hundred people
Raise up a house from the flooring to the beams.
Working alone, we can do so little.
Working as one, we create our dreams.

Interdependence - fair and fine.
Interdependence - yours and mine.
Interdependence - leave behind your fear and celebrate.

This is the world we've always wanted.
This is the truth that will never go away.
This is the task and joy that greets us.
This day is interdependence day
.
